Gold Coast

Odd jobs, close to home

Being based in Hope Island means the northern Gold Coast is our own neighbourhood. Sanctuary Cove, Coomera, Helensvale, Paradise Point and Runaway Bay are all a short drive, and Southport and Surfers Paradise are a regular run. Robina and Burleigh Heads are further down the M1 but still part of our patch. That makes the Gold Coast the easiest place for us to fit in a list of small jobs, even when it's only a handful of things.

The jobs change with the homes. In Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove, it's often gate latches, fly screens, sticky cupboard doors and shelving in larger homes. In new Coomera and Helensvale homes, it's TV brackets, curtain rails, door stops and the shelves the builder didn't include. Around Surfers Paradise, Southport and Burleigh Heads, holiday lets and rentals need small repairs fixed between guests or before an inspection, and older beach houses always have something that needs re-fixing.

Salt air and humidity add their own items to the list. Hinges, gate latches and screen door hardware rust near the water, timber doors swell in summer and outdoor timber weathers fast. We fix those properly, using hardware suited to coastal homes where it matters. We don't do electrical or plumbing work, so if anything on your list needs a sparky or plumber, we'll flag it when we quote.

What we do

Handyman jobs we do on the Gold Coast

  • New home fit-out jobs

Curtain rails, blind brackets, door stops, shelves and mirrors in new homes around Coomera, Upper Coomera and Pimpama, fixed into the framing wherever possible so they stay put through years of everyday use.

  • Coastal hardware swaps

Rusted gate latches, hinges, screen door closers and handles replaced with hardware that copes better with salt air. It's a common job on canal and Broadwater homes in Paradise Point, Runaway Bay and Hope Island.

  • Holiday let and rental repairs

Holes in walls, broken door stops, loose handles, damaged fly screens and cupboard doors off their hinges, fixed between guests or before an inspection. Send photos and dates and we'll tell you what we can fit in.

  • Doors, screens and gates

Sticking internal doors eased, sliding fly screens put back on track, and side gates that drag or won't latch rehung and adjusted. Small jobs, but they're the ones you notice every single day.

  • TV brackets and wall mounting

TVs, heavy mirrors and artwork mounted level and fixed into the studs or with anchors rated for the load. A new power point behind the TV needs a licensed electrician, and we'll tell you that before we start.

  • Getting ready to sell

A walk-through before the photos and open homes: patch the dents, ease the sticky door, re-fix loose skirting and replace tired handles, so buyers see a house that's clearly been looked after.

Local conditions

Why Gold Coast homes keep a handyman busy

  • Salt and seized hardware

On the canals and near the Broadwater, steel hardware rusts faster than most people expect. Gate latches seize, hinges squeak and screws snap when you try to take them out. Swapping them for stainless or other coastal-grade hardware saves you doing the same job again next year.

  • New homes with just the basics

New homes in the northern growth suburbs can be handed over with only the basics. Door stops, extra shelving, curtain rails and better hardware are often left to the owner. That makes a good list for one visit, ideally before the house fills up with furniture.

  • Homes that see constant use

Holiday lets and rentals around Surfers Paradise, Southport and Burleigh Heads get used hard, and small damage builds up quickly between guests and tenants. Fixing it all in a single visit is easier and better value than chasing each repair as it happens.

FAQ

Handyman questions

Can you do a short list of jobs on the northern Gold Coast?

Yes. Hope Island is our base, so Sanctuary Cove, Coomera, Helensvale, Paradise Point and Runaway Bay are close by and a short list is still practical. A single tiny job on its own is harder to justify, so if you have a few small things, send them through together with photos and we'll quote them as one visit.

Can you look after repairs at my holiday let?

We can handle the carpentry, door, screen and wall repairs that come up in a holiday let or rental. Send photos of what needs doing and the dates the property is empty, and we'll tell you whether we can fit it in. Electrical and plumbing faults need a licensed electrician or plumber, and we'll point those out.

What should I put on my handyman list?

Anything small that's been bugging you: a door that sticks, a gate that won't latch, a loose towel rail, a hole in the wall, a torn fly screen, shelves you want up. Take a photo of each, note the room, and add your suburb. We'll tell you what fits in one visit and if anything needs a different trade.

Do you do handyman jobs in Gold Coast apartments?

Yes, for jobs inside the apartment such as doors, wall repairs, shelving and hanging. Tell us about parking, lift access and any building rules on working hours when you book, so we can plan the visit around them. If a job involves anything outside your own apartment, check with your building manager first.
