Runaway Bay is canal homes, townhouses and units around the marina and the Broadwater. We fix the sliders, screens, decks and plaster that sea air and everyday use wear out.

Canal homes, townhouses and units

Runaway Bay is an established suburb built around canals, with the marina and the Broadwater along its eastern edge. Many of the canal homes have stood for decades, and plenty have been updated more than once along the way. In between are townhouse complexes and low-rise unit blocks, a lot of them within walking distance of the shopping village and the marina.

Different homes bring different jobs. In the canal houses it's often the big sliders onto the water, deck boards, steps and gates. In townhouses and units the space is tighter and the work is mostly inside: internal doors, robes, plaster patches, screens and handles. In a complex, fences and some doors may be the body corporate's responsibility, so it's worth checking who looks after what before you book.

We're based in Hope Island, and Runaway Bay is part of our regular northern Gold Coast run. Isaac is a QBCC licensed carpenter with more than 26 years' experience. We're tidy in shared buildings, keep noisy work to sensible hours and clean up as we go. Owners, tenants with their manager's okay, and property managers can all send photos for a free quote.

What we see here

Runaway Bay homes and what they need

  • Screens that corrode

Close to the Broadwater, aluminium screen frames go chalky and standard mesh sags or tears. We re-mesh existing frames, replace damaged ones and fit new flyscreen doors to sliders, so you can open the house up on a breezy evening without the mozzies.

  • Sliders onto the canal

Big glass doors onto the deck see sand, salt and heavy use. When the rollers wear, the door grinds and the lock stops lining up. We clean the track, replace the rollers and adjust the door and lock so it closes and locks easily.

  • Unit and townhouse repairs

Inside units we patch holes and cracks in plasterboard, fix internal doors and sliding robe doors, and replace handles and door stops. We work neatly in shared hallways and lifts, protect common areas and take all our rubbish with us.

  • Body corporate items

In complexes, fences, external doors and screens are sometimes common property. Check with your body corporate manager before booking work on them. If the body corporate is arranging the repair itself, we're happy to quote for them directly.

FAQ

Questions from Runaway Bay

Do you do small repairs in Runaway Bay units?

Yes. Units often need a handful of small jobs rather than one big one: a door that won't latch, a robe door off its track, a hole in the plaster and a torn screen. We quote the list together and work through it in one visit. Let us know about parking and lift access when you book.

Can a body corporate or property manager book you?

Yes. We quote for body corporates, strata managers and property managers as well as owners. Send the job details, a few photos and the name of whoever approves the quote, and we'll send it to the right person. If you're a tenant, check with your property manager before arranging any repairs.

Can you fix the deck on a Runaway Bay canal home?

Yes. We refix loose boards, replace rotten or split ones, firm up wobbly steps and handrails, and sand and oil the deck. Near the water we use stainless fixings. Pontoons, jetties and seawalls are specialist marine work, so we'll leave those to the right contractor and stick to the deck.
