Helensvale is one of the more established suburbs on the northern Gold Coast. Alongside newer pockets, there are plenty of brick and tile lowset homes from the 1980s and 1990s, many on quiet streets and around the lakes. These houses are usually well built, but a lot of them still have their original timber fences, sliding robe doors, aluminium sliders and internal doors, and those parts are now well past their best.

Original aluminium sliders and patio doors get heavy as the rollers wear flat and the track fills with grit. We clean and check the track, fit new rollers and adjust the door so it glides again and the lock lines up properly.

Mirrored and panel robe doors from the 1980s and 90s often run on tired tracks and wheels that keep letting go. We replace the wheels and track, or fit new doors and update the robe inside if the old system isn't worth saving.

Should I repair or replace my old Helensvale fence?
If the palings are mostly sound and only the posts have rotted at the base, new posts and rails can give the fence plenty more years. If palings are splitting and the whole run is leaning, a rebuild is usually better value. Send photos of the worst sections and the base of a few posts.
Can you fix the original sliding doors in an older home?
In most cases, yes. Older aluminium sliders usually need new rollers, a cleaned or repaired track and an adjustment so the lock lines up again. If the original roller is no longer made, we look for a compatible replacement. Only doors with badly damaged frames need replacing outright.
