Trade-quality odd jobs
Handyman jobs, done by a licensed carpenter
Multi House Services is run by a QBCC licensed carpenter, and the handyman jobs get the same care as the big carpentry ones. A shelf is fixed into the studs, not just the plasterboard. A door that sticks gets planed and sealed, not forced. A patch in the wall gets sanded and painted so you can't find it afterwards.
The best way to use us is with a list. Write down everything that's been bugging you, add a photo of each job, and send it through. We'll work out what can be done in one visit, bring the right fixings and materials, and get through it in order. It's usually better value than booking a separate call-out for each little thing.
There are jobs we leave to other trades. We don't do electrical work or plumbing, so new power points, light fittings, taps and leaking pipes need a licensed sparky or plumber. If something on your list needs one, we'll tell you. We clean up as we go and take away the offcuts and old materials from our own work, whether you're in Hope Island, Southport or across in Brisbane.
What we do
Handyman jobs we handle
Shelves & pictures
Floating shelves, mirrors, artwork and heavy frames hung level and fixed into studs or with the right wall anchors.
TV brackets
Wall brackets fixed securely into the framing. Any new power point or hidden wiring behind the TV is a job for a licensed electrician.
Doors & cupboards
Sticking doors eased, loose hinges tightened, cupboard doors realigned and worn handles and catches replaced.
Small wall repairs
Dents, holes and cracks in plasterboard patched, sanded and painted to match the wall around them.
Timber fixes
Loose skirting and architraves re-fixed, damaged trims replaced and soft boards swapped out.
Clean-up after the job
We sweep up, take away offcuts and old fittings from our work, and leave the room tidy.
Worth booking a handyman when…
- Your to-do list has more than a few small jobs on it
- You've bought shelves or mirrors and don't trust the wall plugs
- You're moving out of a rental and need small repairs fixed first
- You're getting the house ready to sell
- A door, drawer or cupboard has been annoying you for months
- You want small jobs done properly, not just patched over
What affects the price
- How many jobs are on the list and how long they'll take
- Materials and fixings, such as shelves, brackets or hardware
- Whether any painting is needed to finish a repair
- Access, such as high walls or ceilings
- Taking away old fittings or materials
Send your list with a photo of each job and your suburb, and we'll come back with a clear fixed quote.
FAQ
Handyman questions
Is there a job too small for you?
Not really, but a single tiny job on its own can cost more than it's worth to book. If you add a few other small jobs to the list, the visit makes a lot more sense. Send us everything you've got and we'll tell you what's practical.
Can you do electrical or plumbing jobs as well?
No. In Queensland, electrical work has to be done by a licensed electrician, and we don't do plumbing. We can do the carpentry side of a job, like building a niche or fitting a cabinet, and tell you when you need a sparky or plumber.
Can you hang heavy mirrors and shelves on plasterboard?
Yes. We find the studs and fix into the timber wherever we can. Where there's no stud in the right spot, we use wall anchors rated for the weight, or add a timber backing for really heavy items.
Do you do repairs before an end-of-lease inspection?
Yes. Holes in walls, damaged doors, loose fittings and broken fly screens are common end-of-lease jobs. Send us photos of what needs fixing and when you need it done by, and we'll let you know if we can fit it in.
Do you take away rubbish after the job?
We take away the offcuts, packaging and old fittings from our own work and leave the place tidy. We don't offer general rubbish removal or skip hire, so for a big clean-out you'll want a rubbish removal service.
