Old frames, new doors and everything in between
We cover Brisbane's south and east, from Mount Gravatt, Holland Park, Coorparoo and Camp Hill out to Carindale, Wynnum and Capalaba, and south through Springwood, Logan and Beenleigh. It's an easy run up the M1 from our base in Hope Island.
Brisbane has a lot of character housing, and that shapes our work. Queenslanders and post-war homes often have door openings that aren't standard sizes, frames that have moved over the decades, VJ walls and verandahs that need a carpenter who's patient with old timber. Doors are a big part of what we do here, from custom front doors to rehanging internal doors in openings that are no longer square.
We also do plaster and ceiling repairs, built-in wardrobes, shelving and general carpentry in newer homes across the south side. If a job needs a plumber, an electrician or a structural engineer, we'll tell you upfront rather than guess.

Brisbane homes and what they need
Queenslander door frames
Old frames are rarely square, and openings are often taller or wider than today's stock doors. We measure on site and either fit and trim a standard door properly or recommend a made-to-measure one.
VJ walls and old timber
Damaged VJ boards and old timber linings can often be patched with matching boards. Some older profiles aren't stocked anymore, so we'll tell you how close a match we can get before we start.
Stumps, stairs and verandahs
Raised houses mean timber stairs, verandah boards and balustrades exposed to the weather. We replace rotten treads, boards and handrails. Restumping is a specialist job, so if stumps have moved we'll tell you.
Humid summers and sticking doors
Brisbane's wet season makes timber doors swell and stick, especially in older homes where frames have shifted. We fix the cause, then seal the edges so the door stays right through the next summer.
Storms and water damage
Brisbane's summer storms bring down fences and push water into ceilings. Once the leak is fixed by a roofer or plumber, we replace damaged plasterboard, repair cornices and rebuild fences.
Termite damage
Old timber homes on stumps are prone to termites. We don't treat them, but after a licensed pest controller has been, we replace damaged floor framing, stairs, door frames and skirting.

Local questions
Do you work on old Queenslanders?
Yes. Old timber homes need a bit more care, because frames have moved and many openings aren't standard sizes. We take that into account when we measure and quote.
Can a new custom door fit an old Queenslander frame?
Usually, yes. We check the frame for square and soundness first. If it's solid, we make or order a door to suit the opening. If it's rotten or badly out, we replace the frame with the door so the new door closes properly.
Can you match old VJ boards on a damaged wall?
Often we can get a close match, either from new boards in a similar profile or by reusing sound boards from elsewhere in the house. Some older profiles aren't made anymore, so we'll show you the options before starting.
Do you come out to Logan and Beenleigh?
