Patch & paint

Paint and plaster repairs on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane

A repair isn't finished until it's painted and you can't find it. We paint the walls, ceilings and doors that go with our plaster and carpentry work across the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Finished, not just fixed

Why a painted patch still shows

Ever had a wall repaired, dabbed paint on the patch and still been able to see it? That's normal. Fresh plaster soaks up paint differently from the old wall, and the paint on your walls has faded since it went on. The fix is a sealer over the repair, then paint from corner to corner so there's no edge for your eye to find.

That's why we paint as part of our repair work. After a plaster patch, a ceiling repair or a new door, we seal and paint, so you're not chasing a separate painter for a small job and one person owns the finish. Got the colour name or a leftover tin? Great. If not, we can get a sample of the existing paint colour-matched.

To be clear, our painting goes with our carpentry and plaster repairs: a patched wall, a repaired ceiling, a freshly hung door and its architraves, or a room after a few repairs. For a whole-house repaint, a dedicated painting company is the better choice, and we're happy to leave our work ready for them. We do patch-and-paint across the Gold Coast and Brisbane, and it suits end-of-lease repairs well.

What we do

Painting that goes with our repairs

  • Patch and paint

Plaster repairs sealed and the whole wall repainted, so the patch disappears instead of showing as a shiny square.

  • Ceilings after repairs

Water-stained or patched ceilings sealed with a stain blocker and repainted so old marks don't bleed back through.

  • New and repaired doors

Doors we've hung or repaired, primed and painted along with the frame and architraves to match the rest of the house.

  • Trims after carpentry

New skirting boards, architraves and window trims filled, sanded and painted once we've fitted them.

  • A room after repairs

Where a room has several repairs, we paint the affected walls or the whole room so the finish is even.

  • End-of-lease touch-ups

Holes from hooks and brackets filled, sealed and the wall repainted before the final inspection.

Ask for patch and paint when…

  • A wall has been repaired but the patch shows through the paint
  • You've touched up a wall and the new paint looks shinier or darker
  • A water stain on the ceiling keeps showing through new paint
  • A new door or new architraves are fitted but still bare or primed
  • You don't know the original colour and need it matched
  • You'd rather one tradie handled both the repair and the paint

What affects the price

  • How many walls or ceilings need painting to hide the repair
  • Whether the colour is known or needs matching from a sample
  • Sealer or stain blocker over repairs and water marks
  • Doors and trims, which take more preparation than flat walls
  • Ceiling height, and how much furniture needs moving and covering

Tell us what's being repaired, send a photo of the whole wall or room and include the paint colour if you know it. We'll give you one fixed quote for the repair and the paint.

FAQ

Patch and paint questions

Can you just paint over the patch?

We can, but it nearly always shows. Old paint fades and the patch takes paint differently, so you end up with a visible square. Sealing the repair and painting the whole wall from corner to corner gives an even finish.

What if I don't know my paint colour?

Check the garage for an old tin, or ask your landlord or builder. If there's no record, we can take a small sample of the existing paint and have it colour-matched. A matched colour still looks best when it goes over the whole wall.

Do you repaint whole houses?

No. Our painting goes with our own carpentry and plaster work, like a repaired wall or ceiling, or a new door. For a full interior or exterior repaint, a dedicated painter is the right call, and we can leave our repairs ready for them.

Which sheen should I use on walls and doors?

Most homes have a low sheen on the walls, flat paint on the ceilings and semi-gloss on doors and trims, because it's tougher and easier to wipe. Matching what's already there keeps the repair from standing out.

How soon can you paint after a plaster repair?

Once the compound is completely dry and sanded. Depending on the repair and the weather, that might be later the same day or on a return visit. Humid Gold Coast and Brisbane summers can slow drying, so we don't rush it.
