High-rise living and older beach homes
Surfers Paradise is mostly apartments. Towers line the beachfront and the streets around the light rail, and while many units are lived in by their owners, others are let to holiday guests or long-term tenants. Back from the beach and over towards the Nerang River there are still older houses, low-rise unit blocks and riverside homes. Each type of home brings its own set of jobs.
In apartments the work is mostly inside and on the balcony: sliding doors that have stiffened up in the salt air, robe doors off their tracks, holes and cracks in plasterboard, loose handles and tired internal doors. Getting in takes some planning, so we work around the building's rules, sorting lift bookings and parking through your building manager where needed, and bring up only what the job requires.
In the older beach houses it's age and salt that show: doors swollen by sea air, corroded hinges, brittle fly screens and plaster that has cracked over the years. We're based in Hope Island, about half an hour up the coast, and we plan Surfers jobs ahead. Isaac is a QBCC licensed carpenter, fully insured, and we'll tell you straight if a job needs a different trade.
What we see here
Surfers Paradise homes and what they need
Balcony sliders in salt air
High-rise balcony doors take wind, salt spray and constant use. Rollers wear, tracks corrode and locks stop catching. We clean and service the track, replace rollers and adjust the door. Some building-wide door systems are looked after by the body corporate, so check first.
Holiday apartments between guests
Holiday-let apartments wear faster than most homes. Handles loosen, robe doors come off their tracks and walls get knocked by luggage. We quote a list of repairs for the owner or letting manager and plan the visit around the gaps between bookings.
Sliding robe doors
Many apartment robes have mirrored or panel sliders on light tracks. They jump off, drag or stop closing. We replace wheels and tracks and realign the doors, or fit new doors and update the robe inside if the old system is worn out.
Older beach houses
Houses a few streets back from the sand often have timber doors and frames that have swollen and weathered in the sea air. We repair or replace damaged timber, swap rusted hinges for stainless ones and seal every edge so the repair lasts.

FAQ
Questions from Surfers Paradise
Can you work in a Surfers Paradise apartment tower?
Yes. Let us know the building's rules when you book: lift bookings, where trades can park, working hours and whether the building manager needs our insurance details. We're fully insured and can send proof of insurance to the building ahead of the visit, so there are no hold-ups on the day.
Can you fix a balcony sliding door that won't lock?
Usually, yes. The most common cause is worn rollers letting the door drop, so the lock no longer meets its keeper. New rollers and an adjustment often fix it. If the door is part of a building-wide system the body corporate maintains, check with them first so you don't pay for a repair that's theirs.
Do you do repairs for holiday letting managers?
Yes. We quote for owners and letting managers, and can work through a list of small repairs in one visit, such as robe doors, handles, door stops and plaster patches. Send photos and tell us when the apartment is free between bookings, and we'll plan the visit around that.
