Hillside brick homes and townhouses
Springwood is in Logan City, at its northern edge where it meets Brisbane's southern suburbs. It's a hilly, leafy suburb with plenty of brick homes from the 1970s and 80s, many on sloping blocks, along with townhouses and units closer to the town centre and the busway. A lot of these homes are on their second or third owners and are being updated room by room rather than in one big renovation. That kind of steady, practical work is what we do most here.
Inside, the common jobs are doors, ceilings and storage. Original internal doors get swapped for new ones hung in the existing frames. Older ceilings sag or crack, especially where a roof leak has soaked the plasterboard or the fixings have let go over time. And many bedrooms still have their original robes, so we fit new shelving, hanging rails and built-in wardrobe fit-outs. Once the plaster is fixed, we can patch and paint so the repair disappears into the rest of the room.
Springwood is roughly 35 to 40 minutes up the M1 from our Hope Island base, so we group jobs on this side of Logan on set days. If you're looking for a carpenter near Springwood, Rochedale South or Slacks Creek, send us photos and a short description of the job. We'll quote what we can from the photos and arrange a visit for anything we need to measure first.
What we see here
Springwood homes and what they need
Sagging and cracked ceilings
Ceilings in 70s and 80s homes can start to sag as old fixings and adhesive give up, or after a roof leak. We refix sound sheets, replace damaged ones and repair the cornice. Any leak needs to be fixed by a roofer or plumber before we start.
Doors on sloping blocks
Homes on sloping blocks can move a little over the years, and doors are usually the first thing to show it. We rehang doors that have dropped, adjust strike plates and plane only where needed. Large cracks or many doors sticking at once are worth a structural engineer's look first.
Wardrobes and storage
Original robes in older homes are often a single rail and one high shelf. We fit built-in wardrobe fit-outs with shelving, double hanging and storage to suit, and replace worn sliding robe doors, so the space you already have works much harder.
Townhouses and units
In townhouses we work in tighter spaces and often with a body corporate in the background. We keep the work tidy, protect shared areas, and check with you about body corporate rules before touching anything outside your four walls.

FAQ
Questions from Springwood
Is Springwood in Brisbane or Logan?
Springwood is in Logan City, right on the border with Brisbane's southern suburbs. We cover it along with nearby Logan suburbs like Rochedale South, Shailer Park, Daisy Hill, Slacks Creek and Underwood, and across the border into Brisbane's south side, grouping the work on set days.
My ceiling has a sag in the middle of the room. What should I do?
Keep people out from under it and send us photos. A sag usually means the sheet has come away from its fixings, often after water got in. If there's a leak, have a roofer or plumber fix it first. Then we can refix or replace the plasterboard, match the cornice, and patch and paint so the repair blends in.
Can you fit new doors to old frames in a 70s or 80s home?
Usually, yes. Most homes from that era have close to standard openings, but the frames may have moved a little. We measure each opening, trim and hang the new door to suit, seal the cut edges, and fit new hinges and handles. If a frame is damaged, we can replace it at the same time.
