Family homes ready for an update

Carindale, in Brisbane's east, was mostly built from the 1970s onwards, and it's known for larger brick family homes on hilly, tree-lined streets around Bulimba Creek and the shopping centre. Many are two-storey or split-level, with pools, decks and backyards that get plenty of use. Most are well built but have reached the age where owners are updating them: new internal doors, better storage, a fresh look for the living areas and outdoor spaces that suit the way the family lives now.

So a lot of our Carindale work is upgrades rather than repairs. We build plasterboard feature ceilings and bulkheads with recesses for LED cove lighting, which a licensed electrician wires up, and TV feature walls with niches. We fit out built-in wardrobes, replace original internal doors and hang new front doors. Outside, we build and restore merbau and hardwood decks, including around pools, and repair the timber fences between neighbours. Patching and painting after the job is part of what we do.

Can you build a feature ceiling with LED lighting in Carindale?

Yes. We frame and sheet the bulkhead or raised ceiling, form the recess for the LED strips and finish the plaster ready for paint. The lighting is wired by a licensed electrician, and we can coordinate one so their work fits around ours. Send us photos of the room and the look you're after.

Is it worth restoring an old pool deck, or should we replace it?

If the joists and bearers are sound, restoring is usually the better value: replace damaged boards, refix loose ones, then sand and oil. If the frame is rotten, or the deck sits low over damp ground with little airflow, rebuilding is often the smarter long-term choice. We check underneath first and tell you honestly.
